Roger Toomey joins TLHA Board of Directors

BELLE PLAINE, MN – June 1, 2017 – A multiple lifetime achievement award winner, Roger Toomey has joined The Lutheran Home Association (TLHA) Board of Directors. The non-profit health care and disability ministry welcomed Toomey to the board at its governance meeting on May 22. He joins 14 existing board members. TLHA’s board meets regularly with the president and CEO and executive leadership to review the organization’s operation and to provide strategic direction for its ministry. 

“Roger Toomey embodies our ministry’s values: respect, resilience and integrity. We are very fortunate to have his leadership and talent on our board,” said Board Chair Arvid Schwartz.

Toomey has more than 40 years of experience in the food service industry, including serving as CEO of UniPro Foodservice in Atlanta for 15 years, where he was responsible for more than $65 billion in revenue; COO of PYA Monarch in Greenville, S.C.; Executive Corporate Senior VP of Food Services of America in Seattle; and Director of Purchasing and Marketing at Aslesen Company in Minneapolis. He has received two lifetime achievement awards:

  • International Foodservice Distributing Association (IFDA) 2004 Cornerstone Award. This award recognizes exceptional leadership and contributions to the foodservice industry made through engagement with IFDA.
  • International Facility Management Association (IFMA) 2011 Distinguished Industry Achievement Award – Foodservice Industry. This award recognizes an individual who brought positive change in the foodservice distribution community and a pioneer in areas of management, marketing and operations.

Toomey also serves on the Board of Directors of IFDA, Southwest Minnesota State University, Foodservice Risk Management, IPAP, and Distributor Marketing Advantage. Toomey presently serves on the Faith Lutheran Church Council in Prior Lake, Minn. as VP, where Toomey and his wife, Debbie, are members.
