Local Volunteers Honored for Their Work

Posted on Thu, Jul 29, 2010

Belle Plaine, MN—Carol and John Buszmann have been named Scott County Volunteers of the year! One of the places Carol volunteers is our Home to Home Thrift Store.

Volunteering for The Lutheran Home AssociationCarol has been a faithful volunteer at the thrift store for about 4 years. She enjoys volunteering because she loves working with people. Joann Pomije, Director of Home to Home Thrift Store, shares, “She is a perfect example of what volunteering gives back to you—she does it so willingly here and elsewhere.”

After retirement, Carol knew she wanted to keep busy, so she became a volunteer. Carol taught in primary grades for 26 years and then worked for a dentist.

She and her husband also volunteer for Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague, Minnesota, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. They will be recognized at the Scott County Fair on July 30, 2010, and then go to the Minnesota State Fair with other selected Minnesota County Volunteers. From that group, a statewide volunteer will be selected. From that group, a statewide Volunteer of the Year will be named.

We thank Carol and John for their service to us and the community and wish them blessings as they are honored for their contributions!
