Jesus Cares Ministries Continues to Grow

Posted on Tue, Sep 20, 2011

Pastor Dallas Miller, Director of Spiritual Services and Administrator of Jesus Cares Ministries, reflects on the growth of Jesus Cares Ministries:

Jesus Cares MinistriesWhen we reflect on the growth of Jesus Cares Ministries, I consider the Apostle Paul’s personal humility and desire to give the glory to the One – Jesus Christ – who alone deserves all credit. In 1 Corinthians 3:5-11, Paul writes, 5What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. 6I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.

10By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. 11For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

As more and more congregations and individuals reflect a determined interest in seeing this special ministry serve people in their locations, we certainly want to give the glory to our Lord and recognize that many people may have been working and praying for this. Families of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have certainly prayed and encouraged the church year after year. The Lord chooses the times and places and it seems that he is choosing now. We might consider the tremendous opportunities that our Summer Ministry Experience team was privileged to encourage this summer, as well as what they’ve done in previous summers. This year, the team planted or visited established programs in:
