Belle Plaine, MN–The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently awarded The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine an overall five-star rating—the highest possible. A five-star rating means the home was “much above average.” CMS’s “Five-Star Quality Rating System” includes surveys, staffing and quality measures in addition to the overall rating. This ranking system is used for skilled nursing facilities throughout the United States. Only 10% of all nursing homes in the United States receive this ranking.
This information is helpful to consumers because of the differences in the type and quality of care and services provided by nursing homes across the country. The five-star quality rating’s purpose is to help consumers easily compare skilled nursing facilities and decide what questions they need to ask. In addition to using this tool, people looking for nursing home care are encouraged to visit many facilities, meet with staff, ask questions and talk with current residents and their families.
Administrator Dennis DeCosta states, “We appreciate our team members who helped us achieve this rating. They focus on providing quality physical, emotional and spiritual care for our residents.” The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine offers skilled nursing care, which includes a Special Care Residence for people with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The home also offers rehabilitative therapies through its Wellness and Rehabilitation Center and Transitional Care Services. In addition to this home, The Lutheran Home Campus offers a complete continuum of care, which includes Kingsway Retirement Living, Hope Residence, Faith Residence Apartments and Boessling Lutheran Village Apartments.
