On Wednesday, February 1, at 4:00 p.m., St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church celebrated the groundbreaking for Kingsway of Beverly Hills, an independent senior living rental community for adults 55 years of age or older. This new community will be located on the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School campus (compound) at 6150 North Lecanto Highway in Beverly Hills, Florida. Church leaders and members joined together, with shovels in hand, to break ground for the upcoming community. A reception was held immediately following the brief outdoor ceremony.
The building project, featuring Excel Engineering and Catalyst Construction, will consist of 24 individual one and two-bedroom rental housing units ranging from 1,729 to 2,253 square feet – with 12 units ready for summer 2012 and the remaining units will be completed by spring 2013. Builders for Christ, a division of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) Kingdom Workers, will provide a significant amount of labor for construction. Builders for Christ has grown to include over 350 men and women from 17 states. These men and women assist WELS congregations to organize and provide workers who build facilities at a reduced cost. Kingsway Management Services, a division of The Lutheran Home Association based in Belle Plaine, Minnesota, will manage the property.
Rev. Mark Gabb, from St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, shares, “This project has been in the works for over a dozen years. We are extremely grateful and excited that the Lord has brought it to this point. More than just a place for seniors to live, we see this as a wonderful opportunity to carry out our calling to share Christ’s love with others, not only in our synod, but also with the unchurched who move into our community.”
