Spencer started at TLHA as Executive Director of TLHA: River Falls and has quickly stepped into another leadership role as Administrator of The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine, a skilled nursing facility. This, along with five years of previous experience in healthcare, including group home, hospital, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and assisted living settings, earns Spencer the title and honor of being recognized as an “emerging leader.” Spencer holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with an emphasis in healthcare, from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, and is a licensed nursing home administrator in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
“Spencer’s attendance and insight at the conference will provide participants a different perspective,” said Michael Klatt, president and CEO of The Lutheran Home Association. “During Spencer’s tenure, he has shown strategic thinking and long-term care planning. We are proud of his accomplishments.”
The NELS Summit is a week-long conference for health care administrators in health and aging services who have typically been in the field for less than ten years and are identified as emerging leaders.
Participants in the Summit will:
- Identify, develop, and refine solutions for the next generation of leaders building on themes from the previous year's emerging leaders;
- Meet with representatives of key professional organizations and gain an inside perspective on the legislative process; and
- Engage in discussions with other leaders in the field of health and aging services administration to advance an agenda of action.
Attendee participants hold positions in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, continuing care retirement communities, rehabilitation hospitals, home- and community-based services, and affiliated organizations across the country.
“I am honored to be invited to the NELS Summit this year. It is a great opportunity to engage with other leaders and gain inside knowledge on the legislative process,” stated Spencer. “The summit is a valuable event that allows leaders address emerging concerns and provide viable solutions.”
