Devotion: Finding peace

“Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.” (Psalm 85:10)

A husband came home and noticed his wife looked exhausted. She spent part of her day scrubbing and cleaning the kitchen floor. As the couple was relaxing with a cup of coffee, their children came running in. Two were complaining while the third was whining about an older sibling.

The man said “Everyone needs to be careful because your mother has spent all afternoon cleaning the floor. If anyone spills, you will clean it up and then go to your room.” Upon hearing that, the woman spilled her coffee on the floor. She cleaned it up and went up to her room. What did she need?

She needed peace. We have a better peace in God. He becomes man and comes to earth. The Bible tells us, “Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other,” in Psalm 85:10. God’s justice and love meet together in Christ who took on flesh so he could die in our place.

We have a better peace in God than going to our room to be alone. Peace is in our hearts, the only kind that matters. Peace with God, now and forever.
